What Pieces Came with the Castle #993 Fisher Price Set?
The Fisher-Price Little People Castle #993 is one of the most iconic and sought-after vintage Little People playsets ever made. Originally produced from 1974–1977, the Castle delighted children with its working drawbridge, trap door, secret passage, dungeon, and hidden dragon's cave. It quickly became one of Fisher-Price's most memorable playsets and remains a favorite among collectors today.
One of the most interesting things about the Castle #993 is that there are two official versions. In 1988, Fisher-Price re-released the Castle as the Classic Collector's Edition. While the playset remained largely the same, several accessories and figures were updated, making it important for collectors to know which version they own.

Which Version Do You Have?
Although the two versions look very similar, there are several easy ways to tell them apart.
Original Play Family Castle
- Wood-bodied Little People figures (except the silver knight)
- Spring-mounted flag on the tallest tower
- Banner flag on the right tower features the classic "Play Family Castle" wording
Classic Collector's Edition
- All-plastic Little People figures
- No spring-mounted flag on the tallest tower
- Banner flag on the right tower features a sleeping dragon
- Updated figure colors, including a pink King and Queen and blonde Princess
- The woodsman figure wears a farmer's scarf instead of the standard star collar

Most Common Missing Castle #993 Pieces
The pieces we most often see missing are the smaller accessories and figures, especially the dragon, royal horse harness, royal horse saddle, and knight figure. Another commonly overlooked difference is that collectors sometimes mix original 1970s figures with the 1988 Classic Collector's Edition figures, resulting in a set that isn't technically complete for either version.
