In 1988, the Classic Edition of the Castle 993 set was released due to overwhelming popularity. The Classic Edition featured all plastic figures. The king and queen were pink in color instead of purple. The princess was blonde and the woodsman wears a farmer's scarf. The Castle base has a banner featuring a sleeping pink dragon and does not include a flag on the top tower. Because of its rarity, it's one of the hardest sets to find for collectors.
This set is in very good vintage condition and perfect for display! The lithos are in good condition overall. The moat litho is slightly loose in places and the inside litho does have some wrinkles from age (see photos). The table litho is a little faded. The drawbridge still clicks when raised/lowered, but doesn't return to the fully closed position (see photos). The dragon has a tight tail and head and has both ears making it a treasure. The bed foam on all three beds is still in tact (extremely rare)! The set is complete with all original pieces and figures including the original box. The box is nearly 40 years old, so it does show signs of wear. This set is a collector's dream!
